COVID-19 Policies

The AAS Board of Trustees believes that full and up-to-date vaccination against COVID-19, combined with prudent safety measures sensible for the time and place of the event, are the best way to deliver the safe environment due to all our attendees, exhibitors, vendors, and staff.

Promote your attendance at the 240th AAS meeting by sharing information on your social media channels! We've created a variety of social-media-friendly graphics to use, and we've written some posts to help get you started.

Update on the AAS 240 COVID Conference Policy

Due to the increasing numbers of cases nationwide and our recent experience running the AASTCS 9 conference (at which ~4% of the ~500 attendees tested positive during or after meeting), we have updated our COVID policy for AAS 240 to require mask-wearing at all times in the conference venue by all attendees, exhibitors, staff members, and support contractors. Further, we encourage all AAS 240 participants to maintain mask-wearing away from the meeting as well, when in close proximity to others or in enclosed public spaces. Additional information will be provided in the "Know Before You Go" email sent to all meeting participants in the week before the conference begins. We are looking forward to seeing all attendees and exhibitors in Pasadena for a safe and engaging conference.

Why Attend: Share & Discover Research

Image for meeting
There will be a wide range of Workshops, Splinter Sessions, Town Halls, and contributed sessions along with an engaging exhibition space representing our community and the institutions and companies that support our research. Plenary and prize speakers, including the Russell lecturer, will present their talks in Pasadena. #AAS240

As much as we want this summer meeting to be as big and busy as a normal winter meeting, the physical space available at the Pasadena Convention Center and at our meeting hotels is insufficient to accommodate all possible sessions, including some proposed Special Sessions, Workshops, private and public Splinter Meetings, and Meetings-in-a-Meeting. We apologize if some proposed sessions will need to be turned down for this meeting due to space limitations, and we encourage all proposers to also consider the winter meeting in Seattle in January 2023 (AAS 241) as an opportunity to host such sessions.
